Meet the Owners
The Maitland's business journey began over 30 years ago with the founding of Dominion Steel Inc, in Fredericksburg, VA. Eventually, their hearts led them to rescue countless animals by founding Compassion Animal Rescue. Now, their next dream has come true—owning a veterinary hospital right across the street from their rescue!
This natural collaboration brings new energy and fresh perspectives to our practice. Their goals include, providing affordable and outstanding pet care as well as education to the Fredericksburg and surrounding communities.
Adding new veterinarians, a mobile vet, expanding hours, and providing emergency services are also underway.
When the Maitland's aren't at the clinic, rescue, or on the road to rescue dogs, you will find them at home with their 11 dogs, 3 cats, and 22 chickens. They both enjoy working on outside projects and escaping to Hatteras Island for a beach getaway. They look forward to their annual family trips to the Tennessee mountains with their 4 kids and 3 grandchildren. They are excited to begin this next chapter in their lives.
